Mainsheet

This is the setup on Voyager for the main sheet and furling lines. I realize that this does not adher to Catalina's diagrams but then in the owners manual I have there wasn't a diagram for a furling main. This was the setup when I purchased the boat and we have been pleased with the performance. I've thought about what it would be like with the mainsheet control to both sides of the cockpit but honestly don't see any great advantage. The one advantage I have with it only to one side is one less line in the cockpit.

The blue line follows our mainsail furling/reef line. The block for this line was originally positioned at #1 and was moved to #1a. This gives a much better angle to the line as it enters the furling screw. The bail is about a foot in front of the rigid boom vang bail/mount. Our mainsheet is only controled from the starboard side of the cockpit. The end of the line is fastened as per the lower photo and follows the purple lines as above. The vertical line just to the right of the #1 is our outhaul going into the end of the boom.
